was published in 1998 by Yale University Press and the British Museum. It is very comprehensive. It's a scholarly work, but it's also well illustrated. Underwater Archaeology: The NAS Guide to Principles and Practice
is published by the Nautical Archaeology Society (NAS). This is the second edition, published in 2008. It's a very comprehensive guide to the subject. In additionto maritime archaeology topics, it also serves as a good bacground on archaeology in general. It covers conservation of sites, as well as regulatory issues in different countries.
